“Terlahir” dengan nama awal (baca: code name) Kokoro — beberapa orang (Eropa) pernah menyebutnya sebagai Kokura — kemudian diumumkan pada tanggal 15 Februari 2009 dengan nama konsep Idou (baca: Sony Ericsson Launches Entertainment Unlimited, Reinforcing its Position as the Communication Entertainment Brand, Sony Ericsson Idou: Entertainment Unlimited), Sony Ericsson akhirnya mengumumkan nama resmi dan juga spesifikasi resmi dari smartphone layar sentuh berkamera 12 megapixel yang merupakan ponsel pertama dari jajaran seri baru Entertainment Unlimited ini, yaitu Satio.

Ya, Satio, itulah nama resmi yang diberikan oleh Sony Ericsson. Terdapat sedikit perubahan dari apa yang diumumkan pada bulan Februari, Satio ternyata akan dirilis dengan sistem operasi Symbian S60 edisi ke-5, belum menggunakan Symbian Foundation. Hal ini dikarenakan Symbian Foundation — sistem operasi “baru” yang merupakan gabungan dari seluruh jenis Symbian menjadi satu sistem operasi tunggal — belum siap untuk mendukung Satio yang diperkirakan akan dirilis pada kuartal keempat tahun ini.
